Bitter is the wine of late July, we stood in stark repose

urchins of the earth whiting like those grapes on the vine

the story they told that dismissed my ancestors, those walkers beteen worlds

I held tight my soul dagger given to me by my forefathers

with the faith love hope and joy the intuition of my matriarc
